AltaMed’s Pharmacy Program

AltaMed’s Pharmacy Program manages drug utilization and costs while also improving health care quality and pharmaceutical access to all AltaMed patients. AltaMed is a leading community clinic provider in the development and implementation of new and innovative pharmacy programs.

AltaMed pharmacy program includes:

Senior BuenaCare Pharmacy Program

Pharmaceuticals products and services are provided to AltaMed patients enrolled in Senior BuenaCare, AltaMed’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). AltaMed patients enrolled in this program receive all drugs covered by Medicare as well as many other over-the-counter drugs that are not covered.

Public-Private Partnership Pharmacy Program

AltaMed provides pharmaceuticals to patients enrolled in the Public-Private Partnership (or PPP) Program. The PPP Program is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) and private community-based providers like AltaMed. This program services low income and uninsured communities with pharmaceutical services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate environment. PPP patients enrolled at AltaMed receive prescription drugs as a part of their health care services.

HIV Pharmacy Program

AltaMed’s pharmacy provides pharmaceutical products and services to patients that receive HIV medical services from AltaMed. Services include drug delivery or mail-order and coverage of drugs that may not be covered by ADAP or other insurance carriers.

Sliding Fee Scale Pharmacy Program

Patients that do not have prescription drug coverage are entitled to participate in AltaMed’s Sliding Fee Scale (SFS) Pharmacy Program. AltaMed SFS patients can receive a month supply of medications for $10 per prescription. Unlike other discount pharmacy programs (such as those at Target or Walmart stores) that limit the type of drugs that are under their programs, AltaMed SFS patients can receive any medication listed on the AltaMed Drug Formulary, including many brand name drugs that are not covered by other programs.
